Congratulations to the Indian Foot and Ankle Society (IFAS) on hosting the 11th Annual Meeting of the Asian Federation of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (AFFAS) in Kolkata, India, in 2027. Professor Sureshwar Pandey has organized the 3rd Asian Symposium on Foot Surgery in Patna, India, in 1998 which is one of the predecessors of AFFAS. This will be the first meeting since AFFAS was established.Kolkata is one of India’s most representative cities, boasting a long history and rich culture. I believe it is highly meaningful that foot and ankle surgeons from across Asia will gather there to deepen their knowledge and strengthen their friendships. As a member federation of the International Federation of Foot and Ankle Societies (IFFAS), AFFAS has played a significant role in advancing the field of foot and ankle surgery throughout Asia.Having previously served as President of AFFAS, I am truly delighted to witness the society’s steady growth through academic exchange and friendship across national borders. I sincerely hope that this meeting will provide a fruitful opportunity for participants to share their experiences and knowledge, further advancing foot and ankle surgery throughout Asia.I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to Dr. Rajesh Simon, Dr. Abhijit Bandyopadhyay, and all members of the organizing committee for their dedicated efforts. I am confident that the meeting will be a great success. I also hope that every participant’s stay in Kolkata will be an unforgettable experience, both academically and socially.
